DISCLOSURE OF FINANCIAL RELATIONSHIPS AND MITIGATION OF CONFLICTS OF INTEREST
The AAP and CPS Policy on Disclosure of Financial Relationships and Mitigation of Conflicts of Interest is designed to ensure AAP/CPS CME activities are balanced, independent, objective, scientifically rigorous and support safe, effective patient care. All individuals in a position to influence and/or control the content of AAP/CPS CME activities are required to disclose to the AAP/CPS and subsequently to learners that they either have no relevant financial relationships or any financial relationships with the manufacturer(s) of any commercial product(s) and/or provider(s) of commercial services discussed in CME activities. The AAP and CPS recognizes that there are a variety of financial relationships between individuals and ineligible companies that require review to identify possible conflicts of interest in a CME activity. An ineligible company is defined as any entity whose primary business is producing, marketing, selling, re-selling, or distributing healthcare products used by or on patients. All potential conflicts of interest are identified and mitigated prior to an individual’s confirmation of service at an AAP/CPS CME activity. Beyond disclosure of financial relationships, AAP/CPS CME faculty are required to disclose to the AAP/CPS and to learners when they plan to discuss or demonstrate pharmaceuticals and/or medical devices that are not approved by the FDA and/or medical or surgical procedures that involve an unapproved or “off-label” use of an approved device or pharmaceutical. The AAP/CPS are committed to providing learners with commercially unbiased CME activities.
The content of this CME activity does not necessarily reflect the views or policies of the AAP/CPS.
