Welcome to the Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)  – your best source for NRP in Canada.

NRP is an educational program that introduces the concepts and skills of neonatal resuscitation. In Canada, NRP is administered by the Canadian Paediatric Society and is designed to teach individuals and teams who may be required to resuscitate newborn babies. NRP course content is evidence-based and delivered across Canada in both English and French to over 51,000 health care professionals.

WHAT’S NEW 

Official Canadian Launch date | June 1, 2026

• The 9th Edition of the Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) will be launched in both official languages in Canada.

Instructor 9th Edition Requirements | June 1 – August 1, 2026

• Complete the NRP 9th Edition Provider Online Learning Assessment (Advanced) (OLA) on your RQI current learnings, available at no cost for Instructors and Instructor Trainers for 60 days following June 1, 2026: Sign in | CPS NRP
• Complete any provincially required 9th Edition Instructor Update activities (requirements may vary by province).

Implementation timeline

Automatic RQI Update | June 1 to August 1, 2026

• Providers have 60 days to complete any 8th Edition NRP exams in their RQI current learnings. Afterwards, any not-started and in progress 8th Edition NRP activities will be automatically replaced by the 9th Edition Online Learning Assessment (OLA).

Teaching Start Date | August 1, 2026

• All instructors must transition to teaching the 9th Edition by this date.

Provider Update Period | January 2027

• All Providers are expected to be updated with the 9th Edition materials by this time.

National Practice Requirements | January 2027

• All NRP professionals and organizations should be fully transitioned to the NRP 9th Edition.
