Students enrolled in accredited health professional programs at the college or university levels and have an interest in paediatrics are welcome to join the CPS.
Medical students have a representative on the Residents Section and play an active role in section activities.
Medical students have access to all the same benefits as resident members. Resources specifically for medical student members include:
Launched in 2020, the CPS Residents Section established a cross-Canada medical student-to-resident mentorship program. The goal of the program is to pair students interested in paediatrics with residents across Canada to support students in learning more about paediatrics, paediatric residency, applying to CaRMS for paediatrics, and related topics. The program allows students the opportunity to network beyond their own medical school and learn from the experiences of residents.
All mentors and mentees must be CPS members to participate in the program. Please click here to sign up to be a CPS member.

Meet the Residents is a podcast series aimed at helping medical students get to know more about the paediatric training programs across Canada,
Hosted by medical students Nardin Kirolos, Marie Albert and Olivia Lemire, the podcast highlights the resident experiences throughout training, and provides applicants with personal perspectives. Each podcast delves into the practices at the resident’s institution, unique aspects of the program, and what it’s to live in that city.
In this video series, CPS members from across Canada talk about why they chose community paediatrics, what day-to-day practice is like, and where they see the field going.
This Google Drive contains infographics and guides to support medical students in learning all things pediatrics both at the preclerkship and clerkship level. New resources are regularly being developed so please check back frequently for updates.
My name is Jennifer and I am eager to serve as your Medical Student Liaison with the Canadian Paediatric Society for the 2025-2026 academic year. I am a fourth-year medical student at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg and am passionate about strengthening connections, mentorship, and advocacy. I look forward to furthering our sense of community across Canada as medical learners who share an interest in Paediatrics.
I welcome any opportunity to connect with other medical students and CPS members.
