Call for Session Proposals

Deadline: May 15, 2024 by 11:59 pm EDT

The Planning Committee invites health care providers, community members, and researchers working with children, youth and families in American Indian, Alaska Native, First Nations, Inuit, Métis and other Indigenous communities to submit session proposals for consideration.

A separate call for poster abstracts will be issued in fall 2024.

Presenter and Primary Contact

Only one presenter will be supported (travel & hotel) and this will be the primary contact. You may include other collaborators in the application. Incomplete proposals will not be considered.

Session Format

Proposals for sessions should provide an in-depth review or update on a specific topic or share an innovative approach that has been successfully implemented in a community.

Presenters have 30 minutes followed by questions and answers. All sessions are presented in English.

Target Audience

This conference attracts community members, researchers, academics, and clinicians to share their work and learn from one another. Expected session attendance is 40-60 delegates.

Evaluation Criteria

The Planning Committee will evaluate submissions based on:

  • Content and relevance to target audience
  • Demonstration of positive outcomes/practice change/replicable models of child health care services and health promotion programs.
  • Demonstration of unique ways to improve health care services and programs to Indigenous children
  • Timeliness of content
  • Clarity of content and objectives

Special consideration will be given to submissions:

  • By Indigenous (i.e., First Nations, Inuit, Métis, American Indian or Alaska Native) communities, professionals or students
  • Demonstrating exemplary partnerships between health care professionals and tribes/communities
  • Covering health care, health promotion, and prevention topics that are common to Indigenous populations internationally.

The Planning Committee may edit the proposal title, description and objectives for readability and adherence to continuing medical education requirements.
