CFPC announces Rourke Baby Record 2017 update
The College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) is pleased to announce the official launch of the 2017 edition of the Rourke Baby Record (RBR) during Family Medicine Forum (FMF), the CFPC’s annual family physician conference, in Montreal, Quebec and a unique opportunity to meet the renowned authors.

For more than 30 years, the RBR has been recognized as one of the world’s leading knowledge translation tools that guides family physicians and other health care professionals with evidence-based information for the well-child care of infants and children from birth to five years of age. It is a system of care that provides practical resources for health professionals and parents to enable efficient comprehensive periodic well-baby/well-child visits. In addition to physical examination and immunization, each visit includes recommendations for growth monitoring, nutrition assessment, developmental milestone surveillance, and anticipatory guidance on common health issues and parental concerns such as injury prevention, environmental health, and behaviour and family issues.
It is now recognized that early child development and experiences, both positive and negative, affect not only future learning, but also physical, mental, and emotional health throughout life. Preventive care and health supervision for infants and children in the first few years of life are thus increasingly important, especially with respect to healthy child development and future health outcomes.
The RBR is endorsed by the CFPC, the Canadian Paediatric Society, and Dietitians of Canada, and is part of the core pediatric knowledge in the medical school curriculum in Canada.
